amaran PT1c PT2c PT4c Troubleshooting

PT1c

HOW IS THE AMARAN PT1C DIFFERENT FROM THE APUTURE MT PRO?

Some key differences between the amaran PT1c and Aputure MT Pro include pixel density, output, and professional connectivity. The MT Pro features a high pixel density with 36 individual pixels built into its 1-foot body, allowing for ultra-smooth pixel chases across the light, whereas the PT1c features 4 pixels. The MT Pro also provides more output power than the PT1c and a wider CCT range of 2,000K to 10,000K. Regarding professional connectivity, both fixtures feature Sidus Link control and can be adapted to wired DMX control. Still, only the MT Pro features LumenRadio CRMX control using its TimoTwo chipset.

CAN I CONTROL THE PIXEL TUBE'S PIXELS USING THE REAR CONTROL INTERFACE?

Pixel FX can be activated from the onboard UI, Sidus Link app, or DMX control. To control individual Pixels, however, this function is currently accessible only through DMX.

HOW CAN I CONTROL THIS LIGHT USING DMX?

Users looking to control the amaran Pixel Tubes using wired DMX must use the USB-C to DMX Adapter with USB-C Input, which is sold separately or is included in the PT2c and PT4c 2-Light Production Kits. This adapter plugs directly into the USB-C port on fixtures, unlocking DMX control.

CAN THE AMARAN PIXEL TUBES BE CHARGED WHILE USING DMX CONTROL?

Alongside the amaran Pixel Tubes, we are releasing a USB-C to DMX Adapter with USB-C Input, which is sold separately or is included in the PT2c and PT4c 2-Light Production Kits. With its additional USB-C Input, users can charge the Pixel Tubes via USB while simultaneously achieving wired DMX control.

CAN I COMBINE DIFFERENT PIXEL TUBES INTO ONE LARGER LIGHT?

By incorporating the amaran 3/8-16in tube splicing connectors, users can create larger, more complex fixture shapes to suit their creative lighting needs. These connectors screw into any 3/8-16in mounting points found on T2cs, T4cs, and Pixel Tube lights.

IS THE BATTERY ON THE AMARAN PT1C REPLACEABLE?

The 18650 Li-on battery in the amaran PT1c is replaceable. The battery compartment is secured with a star-bit screw for security, but the battery can be replaced with one of the same specifications.

IS THERE AN EXTERNAL BATTERY UNIT USED TO POWER THE PIXEL TUBES?

Unlike the T2c and T4c, there is no external battery unit, such as a battery grip. Instead, the Pixel Tubes utilize internal batteries that can be recharged via USB-C.

HOW FAST CAN I CHARGE THE AMARAN PT1C?

The amaran PT1c can charge at 5V/2A via USB-C and will charge in under 2 hours.

PT2c

HOW ARE THE AMARAN PT2C PIXEL TUBES DIFFERENT FROM THE AMARAN T2C?

While the T2c and PT2c are both amaran tube lights, they have several points of differentiation regarding performance and application. The key differentiator between these two lights is the inclusion of multiple light engines and integrated batteries in the Pixel Tubes compared to the T2c. The Pixel Tubes’ individual light engines allow them to be used in more dynamic lighting scenarios requiring Pixel FX. In terms of battery life and output, the T2c are more powerful than their Pixel Tube counterparts, partly due to the not needing to account for heat management of batteries within the tube housings. The external battery of the T2c also allows users to swap out batteries for a full charge quickly and enables the T2c to use a larger 77Wh battery, while the integrated batteries of the Pixel Tubes give them a cleaner look that works better for in-camera practical lights. These differences make the Pixel Tubes better suited to accent lighting within the scene, or even practical lighting provided its smaller form factor and multiple light engines. On the other hand, the T2c, with its higher output and battery runtime, are better suited as fill or key lights when users need a higher output tube form factor.

HOW CAN I CONTROL THE PIXEL TUBES' PIXELS USING THE REAR CONTROL INTERFACE?

Pixel FX can be activated from the onboard UI, Sidus Link app, or DMX control. To control individual Pixels, however, this function is currently accessible only through DMX.

HOW CAN I CONTROL THIS LIGHT USING DMX?

HOW FAST CAN I CHARGE THE PT2C?

The amaran PT2c can charge using USB-C PD at a rate of up to 20W, resulting in a charge time of approximately 3 hours.
