Sidus Link Pro - Common Connection Issues
Fastest fixes for the most common problems: iPad does not see Sidus One/Four, fixture not responding, connection drops mid-show, BT fixture missing.
Overview
Most "the app does not see my hardware" problems trace back to one of a few causes: incorrect Wi-Fi network, client isolation on a router, an outdated firmware, or a power-cycle that has not happened yet. This article walks through the fastest fixes.
For specific CRMX pairing problems, see Troubleshooting CRMX Pairing. For Bluetooth-specific issues, see Getting Started with Sidus Bluetooth.
Issue: iPad Does Not See Sidus One or Sidus Four
Walk through in order:
-
Check that the iPad is on the correct Wi-Fi network. In AP mode, that is SidusOne_XXXX or SidusFour_XXXX. In STA mode, it is the studio / venue network that the transmitter is connected to.
-
Close then re-launch Sidus Link Pro. The app re-scans when the scene loads.
-
If the iPad still doesn't display the Sidus One/Sidus Four in the available Wi-Fi list, power-cycle the Sidus One/Sidus Four and wait 30 seconds for it to broadcast again.
-
If using STA mode and the network has client isolation turned on, the iPad cannot reach the transmitter even though both are on the same SSID. Disable client isolation on the router.
-
If using STA mode and mDNS / Bonjour is blocked at the router, discovery will fail. Enable multicast.
Issue: Connected, But a Fixture Is Not Responding
-
Confirm the fixture is patched in Fixture Management and assigned to the correct universe and starting channel.
-
Open DMX Output Window. Find the fixture's starting address. Adjust its Intensity slider in Fixture View and ensure that the value changes. If DMX values change there but the fixture stays dark, the problem is past the transmitter (cable, DMX transmitter, fixture address, etc.).
-
Verify that the fixture's DMX address on its UI matches what the app is sending.
-
If the fixture is connected via CRMX, confirm that it is paired to the Sidus One/Sidus Four. See Troubleshooting CRMX Pairing.
Issue: Connection Drops Mid-Show
-
2.4 GHz interference - If the network is 2.4 GHz in a crowded venue, switch the transmitter to AP mode for the show, or move to a 5 GHz network.
-
iPad Auto-Lock - Long Auto-Lock times keep the Wi-Fi radio active. Set Auto-Lock to Never during a live show.
-
Low battery on Sidus One - Some Wi-Fi behavior degrades at low battery power on Sidus One. Use an AC adapter for shows.
Issue: Cannot Find a Sidus Bluetooth Fixture
-
Confirm iPad Bluetooth is on (Settings > Bluetooth).
-
Power-cycle the fixture.
-
Reset Sidus BT on the fixture:
-
STORM and other families - Hold the back button for 3 - 5 seconds, then choose "Reset Sidus BT".
-
MC Pro - Hold the red dial 5 seconds, then choose "Reset Sidus BT".
-
-
Re-scan from Add Sidus BT Controlled Fixtures (green + > Add Sidus BT Controlled Fixtures).
-
If many fixtures are out of range, add a Sidus One nearby to act as a Master Node and extend the mesh.
Issue: Error 20004
If you see error code 20004, see Troubleshooting Error 20004.
