Sidus Link Pro - Controlling DMX Fixtures
Day-to-day workflow for DMX and CRMX fixtures: selecting, adjusting intensity and color, grouping and using parameter controls.
Overview
Once a DMX fixture is patched, you can control it from Fixture View, Channel View, Layout View or 3D Visualizer. This article covers your day-to-day workflow: selecting fixtures, adjusting intensity and color, grouping, and using parameter controls.
If you have not patched a fixture yet, start with Patching a DMX Fixture.
Before You Start
-
Sidus One or Sidus Four connected to your iPad. See Connecting Sidus One to Your iPad.
-
At least one fixture patched.
-
Pro or MAX plan active.
Selecting Fixtures
-
Single tap on a fixture tile to select it.
-
Lasso across multiple tiles to select a group.(Layout View only)
-
All in the Fixtures area grabs every fixture in all active universes.
-
Tap a group tile to select every fixture inside it.
Adjusting Parameters
When a fixture is selected, the available parameters for that fixture become available at the top of the current view:
-
CCT - Set Intensity, Color Temperature, G/M shift, Dimmer Curve and Color Source values.
-
HSI / HSIC+ - Set Intensity, Hue, Saturation, CCT and G/M shift values.
-
RGB - Set Intensity, Red, Green and Blue values.
-
xy - Set xy coordinate values.
-
Picker - Set a color by capturing the ambient color with the iPad's camera.
- Gels - Choose from a selection of Lee and Rosco gels.
- Effects - Choose from a selection of System, Manual or Picker FX effects.
For per-fixture extras like Fan Speed or Pixel Control, see Advanced DMX Parameters and Pixel Control.
Grouping
Use Groups to control multiple fixtures together:
-
Select two or more fixtures.
-
Tap and hold one fixtures fader, then drag it on top of the other fixtures fader that you would like to include in the group.
-
Tap the group name under the newly created group fader to rename, edit or delete the group.
Effects
Tap Effects in the Parameter Controls to open the FX panel. Pick a System FX, Picker FX, Magic Program, or pixel effect. See Using Effects.
Verifying Output
If a fixture is not responding, drop into the DMX Output Window. Find the fixture's starting channel and check to see that it is responding to parameter changes. If the values change, but the fixture is unresponsive, the issue could be unrelated to the app.
