Sidus Link Pro - Using Effects
Overview of Sidus Link Pro's effects library: System FX, Picker FX, Magic Program, Magic Infinity FX, PIXEL FX, and PALETTE. How to apply, save and stop effects.
Overview
Sidus Link Pro ships with a deep library of lighting effects for DMX, CRMX and Sidus BT fixtures. Effects let you animate intensity and color over time without programming every frame: lightning, paparazzi, candle, fire, pulse, color sweeps, pixel chases, generative palettes and more.
Effect Categories
System FX
Built-in presets you pick from a library. Each has parameters like speed, intensity and color range. Available on every plan for Sidus BT fixtures and on Pro/MAX for DMX fixtures.
-
Paparazzi - Random flash bursts that emulate still camera flashes.
- Fireworks - Random flash bursts with varying colors and intensity fades that emulate fireworks.
- Faulty Bulb - Random dips in intensity that emanate a failing, flickering light bulb.
- Fire - Flickering warm tones that emulate a fire.
-
Lightning - Short, bright strikes that emulate lightning bolts.
-
Pulsing - Rhythmic intensity fades on and off.
-
Strobe - Hard on/off cycling.
-
TV - Simulates ambient screen glow with varying color and intensity shifts.
- Explosion - Triggered, sudden bursts of intensity that fade.
- Club Lights - Random colors, pulsing on and off with varying fade times.
- Candle - Simulates the flickering of a candle with CCT and intensity shifts.
- Welding - Random intensity on/off flashes that emulate a welding tool.
- Cop Car - Various color combinations that flash just like cop car roof mounted lights.
- Color Chase - Smooth color transition fades between multiple colors.
- Party Lights - Random smooth color transition fades between multiple colors.
Picker FX
Sample real-world color in real time with your iPad camera, then play it back across selected fixtures. Aim at a fire, sunset, or screen and your lights mirror what the camera sees.
Magic Program
A timeline editor for creating effects. Drop keyframes for intensity and color, set the duration, loop it. Best for custom moods that no preset quite hits.
Magic Infinity FX
Generative effects that evolve forever without repeating. Useful for backgrounds that need to hold a vibe over a long take without looping noticeably.
PIXEL FX
For pixel-capable fixtures like INFINIBAR, INFINIMAT and MT Pro. Map color and intensity across each pixel of the fixture for chases, rainbows, sweeps, and patterns. Setting up the map is covered in Pixel Control.
PALETTE
Save sets of colors you can recall on any fixture. Build a palette per scene ("Day INT", "Dusk Exterior", "Club"), then push palette colors to fixtures with one tap.
Applying an Effect
-
Open the workspace for your fixture type: Fixture View for DMX, Sidus BT View for Bluetooth.
-
Select one or more fixtures.
-
Tap Controls > Effects on the top bar.
-
Pick a category and an effect.
-
Adjust speed, intensity, and any color parameters. The effect starts when the Start button is pressed.
Effects in Cues and Quickshots
-
A running effect can be saved into a cue on Pro/MAX. The cue recalls the effect along with intensity and color.
-
A running effect can be saved into a Quickshot for Sidus BT lights on any plan. Tap the Quickshot to bring the effect back. DMX patched fixtures can also be saved in Quickshots with a Pro or MAX plan.
Stopping an Effect
Open the effect panel on the affected fixtures and tap Pause. Setting Intensity to 0 dims the fixture but does not clear the effect; the effect resumes when you bring intensity back up.
