[Education] What is DMX Smoothing and what Aputure lights have this feature?
DMX Smoothing and the Fixtures that have DMX Smoothing settings.
DMX Smoothing is a performance enhancement made to Aputure lights to achieve better performance than the DMX Protocol offers It looks at the DMX values that are coming in and sees if it can increase the smoothing.
Aputure fixtures have built in DMX Smoothing. The benefit of DMX smoothing is great dimming form zero and smooth performance. The downside is that when you need and effect or a light switch gag, they will inherently do a 0.5 second fade up.
The new fixtures have the ability to turn off this setting. So far, we have added this to:
- CS15
- XT26
- INFINIMATS
- INFINIBARS
And Coming soon to MC Pro!
DMX Smoothing Menu is available under the DMX Settings. Options are:
- Super Smooth
- Smooth
- Off
When on OFF, the 0% to On value will see some stepping in the low end.
When on Super Smooth, users may notice an ever-so-slightly delay in the light turning on because it is listening to the differences in the DMX frames and applying smoothing.
