[INFINIMAT] 8x8 Frame Rigging Instructions

The recommended rigging method for mounting an INFINIMAT 8x8 to a frame.

Please note that the INFINIMAT 8x8 requires a steel square stock frame for mounting/rigging. Depending on the mounting configuration (attaching to rolling combo stands, hanging from a grid), mounting ears may also be required. Such grip equipment is available from manufacturers such as Matthews, American, and Avenger.

Setup Instructions

  1. Lay out sound blankets, Visqueen, or other protective material on a flat surface.

  2. Place the deflated 8x8 airbag on the sound blanket/Visqueen, clear side facing up and diffusion side facing down.

  3. Using the included air pump, inflate the airbag (takes ~90 seconds to fully inflate, will retain air for more than 24 hours).

  4. Arrange the LED mat panels face-down, pointing into the clear side of the airbag.

  5. Attach the LED mat panels to the airbag using the Velcro flaps on each of the four sides.

  6. Arrange the Aputure labeling on the back of the LED panels to read left to right when standing oriented at one end of the airbag. Properly aligned, the head cable will be at your feet as you read the labeling left to right.

  7. Feed steel (not aluminum) square stock frame through reinforced loops found around the outer perimeter of the inflated 8x8 airbag.

Note: For attaching frame ears, slide square stock through half the loops and overshoot out of the end. Line up your ear toward the top-middle of the airbag, then feed the square stock through the lower loops.

  8. Fasten the adjustable clamp straps (found along the perimeter of the airbag) to the frame and tighten. Roll or tie any excess strap length close to the steel frame.

This completes the assembly of the INFINIMAT 8x8 and its mounting to a frame. Further rigging for stand or overhead mounting is dependent on use, and a qualified grip or engineer should be consulted. An included grid (aka “eggcrate”) can be attached with Velcro to the face of the INFINIMAT's airbag to control the direction of the light. For overhead use, an included skirt can be attached with Velcro to the perimeter of the INFINIMAT's airbag to control light spill.
