Both of these softboxes produce a front aperture that is larger than a 1x1 LED panel, with more options for diffusion, resulting in a softer light. This compact design provides a nice alternative to the larger Light Dome Mini II, Light Dome SE, or Light Box 60x90. As such, it can easily be filled up by a smaller fixture like the amaran COB 60d or COB 60x, without the need for an inner baffle, resulting in quicker setups and fewer components. This particular size also shines in handheld work, as an ideal balance between soft light and a convenient size.

Yes, like all Aputure softboxes, the Light Box 45x45 comes with two densities of front diffusion (1.5 stop & 2.5 stop diffusion) as well as a 45o light control grid and Bowens Mount speed ring so it is ready to use right out of the box. The Light Box 45x45 does not, however, come with an inner baffle as Bowens Mount COB lights will fill up the front aperture of the softbox without one.

No, the Light Box 45x45 does not utilize a quick-setup design. However, its simple 4-rod construction utilizes a standard rod insert method that allows the Light Box to be set up in seconds. This also enables the Light Box to be completely deconstructed and packed flat into its included carrying bag.

Due to the Light Box 45x45’s compact front aperture of 45x45cm, the Light Box 45x45 is optimized for use with smaller fixtures, including the amaran COB 60, 100, and 200 series, or even the LS 300d Mark II and LS 300x lights. It is not recommended to pair the Light Box 45x45 with lights with a higher output than the LS 300 series, as the larger output would produce too much heat.
