[Sidus Link Pro] Getting Started with Sidus Bluetooth

Quick-start guide for Bluetooth-only control of Aputure and amaran lights on the Sidus Link Pro Free Plan. No transmitter required.

Overview

This guide covers the fastest way to start controlling Aputure and amaran lights from your iPad: Sidus Bluetooth. No transmitter required. No DMX addressing. Works on the Free Plan.

If you have not set up your first project yet, start with Getting Started with Sidus Link Pro first, then come back here.

Before You Start

You will need:

  • Sidus Link Pro installed and signed in.

  • An Aputure or amaran light with Sidus Bluetooth support. Most current Aputure LEDs qualify, including STORM, INFINIBAR, INFINIMAT, MC Pro, MT Pro, NOVA II series, and many amaran lights.

  • Bluetooth enabled on your iPad (Settings → Bluetooth).

1. Pair Your Lights

  1. Power on your Sidus BT lights. Most broadcast by default with no extra setup.

  2. In your scene, open Sidus BT View. The app automatically discovers nearby Sidus BT fixtures and lists them on the stage.

  3. Tap a fixture to start controlling it. No addressing, no universes - just tap and control.

On the Free Plan, Sidus Link Pro opens directly to Sidus BT View when you open a scene. This skips the DMX setup screens for faster access.

2. Control Your Lights

Use the Parameter Controls to adjust:

  • Intensity - the main brightness slider.

  • CCT (Color Temperature) - for bi-color and full-spectrum lights.

  • HSI (Hue, Saturation, Intensity) - for full-color lights.

  • Plus/Minus Green - white point fine-tune.

For an interface tour, see Understanding the App Interface.

3. Use Quickshots

Quickshots let you save groups of fixture settings and recall them instantly. Set up your looks once, tap to change between them on set.

  1. Build a look - select fixtures, adjust color and intensity as you want them.

  2. Open the Quickshots window (right bar).

  3. Tap Save to store the current look as a Quickshot.

  4. Tap the saved Quickshot anytime to recall the look on those fixtures.

4. Explore Effects

On the Free Plan, you also get effects for Sidus Bluetooth fixtures:

  • System FX - built-in effects like paparazzi, fire, lightning, pulse.

  • Picker FX - customizable color-based effects.

  • PIXEL FX - pixel-mapped effects for pixel-capable fixtures.

  • Magic Infinity FX - advanced generative effects.

  • Magic Program - timeline-based programming for dynamic looks.

  • PALETTE - color palette management for Sidus BT fixtures.

All of these are accessed from Sidus BT View.

5. Plan with Diagram Master

Diagram Master lets you draw a lighting plot - a top-down map of your rig with fixture positions, labels, and notes. Available on the Free Plan. Open it from the main menu.

When You Need DMX

If you need to control DMX-only fixtures, run multiple universes, or work with mixed Aputure + third-party rigs, you will need a Sidus One or Sidus Four transmitter and a Pro or MAX subscription. See:
