[Sidus One] Connecting a Sidus One Wirelessly to a Sidus Four
Use a Sidus Four as the Wi-Fi access point for one or more Sidus Ones so Sidus Link Pro can route DMX out the wired DMX or CRMX output.
You can use a Sidus Four as the Wi-Fi access point for one or more Sidus Ones. Sidus Link Pro routes universe data over the link so each Sidus One can transmit one universe over CRMX or out the 3-pin wired DMX port.
Before you start
- One Sidus Four, powered, antennas installed. See Sidus Four: Installing Antennas.
- One or more Sidus Ones, powered, antennas installed. See Sidus One: Installing Antennas.
- Sidus Link Pro running on iPad, signed in.
Step 1 - Set the Sidus Four to AP mode
- Power on the Sidus Four.
- Set the Sidus Four to AP mode so it broadcasts a Wi-Fi network. The SSID and password are shown on the Sidus Four's display. For details, see Sidus Four: Connecting to Sidus Four.
- On your iPad, open Settings > Wi-Fi and join the Sidus Four's network.
Step 2 - Add Network Devices in Sidus Link Pro
- Open Sidus Link Pro on the iPad and open (or create) a Project and Scene.
- Tap the green plus sign icon.
- Select Configure Network Devices.
Step 3 - Follow the standard STA Mode flow
From this point the workflow matches the existing third-party router setup. The Sidus Four is the access point Sidus Link Pro uses, in place of a studio router.
- On each Sidus One, press and hold the AP/STA button for 3 seconds until the AP and STA indicators blink in sync (Network Distribution State).
- Acknowledge in Sidus Link Pro that your Sidus Ones are in Network Distribution State, then tap Next.
- Select the Sidus Ones to configure and tap Set Up. *Up to 4 Sidus Ones can be configured on a single Sidus Four network.*
- Tap Use a router as Access Point. Sidus Link Pro will show the Wi-Fi name the iPad is currently joined to (the Sidus Four's SSID).
- Enter the Sidus Four's Wi-Fi password and tap Configure Device. Wait for configuration to complete.
- When configuration succeeds, the Sidus Mesh indicator and the Art-Net / sACN indicator on each Sidus One will light solid.
For the full STA Mode walkthrough with screenshots, see Sidus One: STA Mode - Using a Third Party Wireless Router as your AP. The steps are identical, the access point is just a Sidus Four instead of a 3rd-party router.
Step 4 - Route a universe
- Open Connection Management in Sidus Link Pro to see the iPad's AP network and the connected Sidus Ones in STA mode.
- Each Sidus One can listen on Art-Net Universe 1-4 or sACN Universe 1-4. Whichever universe the Sidus One is listening to is the universe it transmits via CRMX and out the 3-pin DMX adapter.
- Patch fixtures to that universe in Sidus Link Pro. The CRMX, Art-Net / sACN, DMX, and Sidus Mesh indicators on the Sidus One will all light up when fixtures are receiving data.
Troubleshooting
- If the Sidus One does not show up after entering Network Distribution State, confirm the iPad is on the Sidus Four's Wi-Fi (not your studio router).
- If multiple Sidus Ones are sharing a universe and seeing CRMX dropouts, change the Sidus Four's Wi-Fi channel. See Sidus Four: Wi-Fi Channel Selection and Sidus Four: Wi-Fi Range Issue Troubleshooting.
- If Art-Net / sACN never goes solid, confirm the universe is patched in Sidus Link Pro and that fixtures are present on that universe.
