[Sidus One] FAQ
Troubleshooting Tips for Sidus One
Can I use the Sidus One with any light controller? Lighting Console? App?
Yes. Sidus One can be used with any lighting console when used as a CRMX Transmitter when connected thought the 5 Pin DMX Cable. It can also be used with other App Based consoles over wifi.
If I have 3 lights that do not have CRMX, can I connect a Sidus One in Receiver mode and control all 3?
Yes. If you add the Sidus One receiver to the first light, you can connect aq 5 pin DMX cable out of the first light and into the 2nd light. And Same for the 3rd light. This will send the DMX signal to all 3 lights.
I’m connected to my Sidus One wireless network but the CRMX on the Sidus One looks off and won’t connect to my lights.
Please switch the Sidus One to “TX Mode” to enable CRMX Transmitting.
Where can I find firmware updates for my Sidus One?
To download the latest firmware updates for Sidus One, please connect to the internet first with your iPad; on the Projects page, select the “hamburger” menu in the top left to reveal your account settings; select the Library and find the Sidus One tile. A red dot indicates that a new firmware is available. No red dot indicates that your iPad has the latest firmware available for your Sidus one (you can now download and cache firmware for Sidus One for use when the internet is not available). Once the Library has no updates for your Sidus One, you can return to your Project and Scene; update your Sidus One by opening Connection Management and choosing the Sidus One you’d like to update in the Wireless Transceiver page. Options here include “Firmware Upgrade” and “Wi-Fi Upgrade”.
Can I transmit multiple universes with CRMX using Sidus One?
No, CRMX in Sidus One is limited to one universe of transmission.
What is Sidus Mesh?
Sidus Mesh refers to the mesh network Sidus One can use to communicate via Sidus Bluetooth.
Sidus Link users will be familiar with this mesh network allowing a Master Node fixture to talk with other fixtures. This Sidus Link feature still exists, but Sidus Bluetooth’s capabilities are expanding with the release of Sidus Link Pro.
I have a solid light on my Art-Net/sACN indicator but a blinking light on my CRMX indicator. Why aren’t my lights receiving data?
For the CRMX indicator to be solid, there must be patched information in your control device (iPad with Sidus LInk Pro) and the Universe selection on Sidus One must be selected/listening to the correct Universe.
Why is my Sidus One behaving incorrectly?
Have you updated your Sidus One to the latest Version? We added features to the Sidus One since production. A firmware update is required.
If your Sidus one has not been updated since purchase and is on firmware V1.0, it will exhibit the following behaviors.
- No SACN capabilities
- Art-Net Broadcast responds but isn’t very robust response–steppy and delayed
- Universe Button: Single Press On Universe Changes the Universe.
- Updated version requires a press and hold.
- TX/RX Button: Single Press On TX/RX changes from Transmitter to Receiver.
- Updated version requires a press and hold.
- AP/STA Button: Button has no effect (Always in AP Mode)
- Updated Version: 1 second press cycles between AP, STA and OFF. (STA blinks quickly if not connected to an AP)
- Art-Net/sACN Indicator Light: Indicator stays Solid when connected to an Art-Net Control signal regardless of what Universe is being listened to (the User can be listening to a Universe with nothing patched and there is not indication of this as a problem)
- Updated Version: Indicator is only solid when receiving a Control Protocol that has patched data on the Universe the Sidus One is listening for–set by the Universe button)
