[amaran SM5c] Troubleshooting FAQs

Troubleshooting FAQs for amaran SM5c

Can the amaran SM5c be cut?

No, the amaran SM5c cannot be cut to shorter lengths due to using RGB LEDs for Pixel Control capabilities. Cutting the light strip would cause the LED drivers to not know where the pixels start and stop. Effects such as Snake, Timing, Pinball, Clock, and Fuse will not be complete and will cause the booting process to be delayed, as they are based on the full utilization of all the lighting zones. As a result, it is meant to be used as one continuous light strip and should only be used for lighting large spaces.

Can the amaran SM5c be extended? Can I connect two strip lights together?

Yes, the SM5c can be extended by an additional 5 meters with the amaran SM5c Extension (sold separately), for a total length of 10 meters (32.8ft). The two strip lights are connected via a 8cm header feeder cable to create one continuous light effect. Additional power supply is not required to extend the strip lights.

Is the amaran SM5c flexible? How far can I bend the strip light?

The minimum bend diameter of the amaran SM5c is 5cm (1.97in). Do not bend or wrap the strip light around objects with a diameter less than 5cm or fold the strip light in half.

Can the amaran SM5c be used outdoors?

For the best viewing results, it is recommended to use the amaran SM5c indoors. The SM5c is designed to be integrated in home studios to add saturated color and effects, rather than for illuminating outdoor spaces. Additionally, the amaran SM5c does not have an IP rating and is not weatherproof.
