Patching a DMX-enabled fixture into a scene in Sidus Link Pro.
Checking the Library
To patch a DMX-enabled fixture into Sidus Link Pro to control it in your scene, you will need to check if the Sidus Link Pro Profile library has one or more profiles for it.
As of writing this, the brands there are profiles for includes:
- Aladdin
- Aputure/Amaran
- Arri
- Astera
- Cineo
- Creamsource
- Fiilex
- Filmgear
- Kino Flo
- Lightstar
- Prolycht
- Quasar Science
- Rayzr
Additional Light Fixtures are continuously being added to the Sidus Link Pro Library. If the light you are patching cannot be found, you will need to create your own DMX Profile. See Creating Custom DMX Profiles
Patching a DMX Lighting Fixture
To patch a light or a batch of the same kind of light, you will first need to create a Project and then a Scene in that Project. See Creating Projects and Scenes
Once Logged into your scene, follow the steps here.
- In the top right hand corner, tap the Green Plus sign and then "Add New Fixtures"
- Tap the grey Plus Sign tile under the phrase Add Fixtures phrase. This brings up the Select a Profile window where you can navigate through the library of fixtures.
- Navigate to the Manufacturer, then the Series, then the Model of lighting fixture that you want to patch. Select the DMX profile that best suits the color and effects control you want to have for your project with this fixture and then tap Next in the upper right of the window.
- On the Edit fixture window, select the number of fixtures you would like to patch.
- For example, if you want to patch an 8 light kit of Aputure Infinibars or 8 light kit of MC Pros here, in the Number of Fixtures field, enter or increase the number to '8'.
- Then select the DMX start address and which universe you want to patch the fixture.
- Press the Dialpad button to open the Universe View. This will show you the entire layout of the universe and allow you to drag and drop the fixtures you are patching onto your desired DMX Channel
- DMX Channels cannot overlap to ensure that you have complete control over your fixtures.
- By default, Sidus Link Pro will select the next available DMX address in the patch that will accommodate the DMX profile footprint you have selected that can fit the profile.
- For example, if you have fixtures patched on Channels 1-199, a gap, and then fixtures patched at 208-249 and want to patch a single fixture that has a DMX profile that takes up 7 DMX channels, it will offer to patch this profile at address 200. If you try to increase the quantity of that profile being patched to 2 or more that won't collectively fit in that address gap, Sidus Link Pro will then suggest to patch this batch of fixtures at the next available DMX address that can accommodate two or more of them patched in series. When trying to instead patch two of that fixture profile that takes up 7 DMX channels, Sidus Link Pro would then suggest you to patch them starting at address 250 to accommodate both of them.
- Select the DMX Universe that you want to Output by selecting A, B, C or D. They map to the universe you setup in the Settings Gear Icon.
- Tap "Confirm" in the upper right of the Edit Fixture window to commit to the DMX address and universe, and quantity of fixtures that is shown.
- Back on the Add New Fixtures page, you can add additional fixture types by pressing the Plus Sign tile, and repeating the process.
- Tap the green "Save" button in the upper right corner to add all the fixtures.
- Once arriving back on the main page, the lighting fixture(s) you patched will be added to the stage and the fixtures list.
- After adding the new fixtures, make sure you configure the light.
- Update the light firmware
- Reset to Default
- Select the DMX Profile
- Set the DMX Start Address
- If connecting over CRMX, Enable CRMX and unlink if previously linked. Then tap the Link button on you Sidus One or CRXM Transmitter.
